Worked on the blocking over the past week. Any crits are greatly appreciated, as I continue to refine it. Some parts feel slow (particularly his running), but last time I blocked my animation I had too many parts where it was incredibly fast when I started splining. I’m also not quite sold on his jump. What do you think?
Again, blocking helps tons. It makes things easy to change and forces me to focus on posing. I’m thinking this workflow’s a keeper. 😉
First impression: Wow, you’ve surpassed your mentor. You’re definitely improving at a blind rate … blowin my mocappy stuff away 😮
Crits:
–I think his run speed is fine.
–I love the stumbles and struggles he does. They’re usually difficult to do (at least for me), and you’re pulling them off like nothing.
–His first stumble as he falls seems a little too quick.
–On his first stumble, I kinda wanna see his left foot slip just a little bit behind him as he tries to recover, and his right foot plant in front of his left.
–His arc in the jump feels a little quick to me.
–His climbing up looks great. Looks like he’s trying some parkour stuff XD
Fantastic start here, Lianne … can’t wait to see this polished off. Looks like you’re really having fun with this.
I know I’m not much help when it comes to animation in a technical sense, but this is looking really cool. I’m convinced.
I really like the slip/stumble part. I can really see all the research you put into it with those sketches you posted earlier. It definitely adds a whole new aspect rather than to just have the character run.
Neato!
I agree with Hongman, first falls feels quick for some reason. Maybe it’s the recovery. It takes a second to power back up to speed- your first 2 steps after are going to be smaller and slower. Climbing and scrambling up the wall at the end is my favorite part. Looks awesome!
