I’ve started planning for my next animation! Keeping with the parkour theme, I want to try doing a run with vaults/jumps over objects. I love their poses as they jump over things, so I want to experiment with that. Something a little shorter, but just as focused. Since things have been busy at work, I’m not quite sure how much time I can dedicate to this, but we’ll see.
… I think you just did the whole animation right there …
Lianne! I hadn’t come by your site in a while; I freakin’ love that T-Rex that wants to fly!
Hongman’s right. I think you should try cutting this thing together in Premier or Final Cut.
I haven’t had the time to really look this over but the only thing that’s really standing out is the lack of compression when the character goes down before the jump and and after when they land.
Are you trying for something more realistic or cartoony? Even if it is something realistic I’d recommend pushing the squash and stretch until you feel the need to pull back.
Hmm…have you considered trying this one in 2d?
It’s looking good. Stay frosty!
Hey guys! Thanks so much for the comments!
I haven’t really thought about doing it in 2d, actually. I originally planned to do it in 3d so I can keep practicing with my tools and workflow. Cutting it in Premiere would be interesting, tho.
I definitely want to do some 2d in the future since it’s been awhile. I have a couple ideas on the back burner.
Thanks for the crit, Matt! I’ll keep in mind to pronounce his jump and landing when animating. I’m aiming for something more realistic, but I agree; more s & s would enhance it. And I’m glad you liked the T-Rex!
